Name: Mika (mee-kuh)
Breed: American Long Hair
Age: 10
I had been looking for a long hair calico for months. Michael drove me to many places looking for the perfect cat that I had envisioned, and dreamed of since I was little. After exhausting all avenues I gave up. A month or so later I decided that I would go to the Allen Animal shelter to see if they had anything. I asked the officer if they had any calicos, and she said to go look. I did not see one, but this cute little tortoiseshell caught my eye. I asked if I could hold her, then carried her out. She was a purr machine, and super lovey, but I was not out to get a tortoiseshell, so I put her back. I saved Mika from euthenasia. I dreaded calling Michael to tell him that I found a cat, and that it was not the long hair calico I had been looking for. I figured he would shoot me since I dragged him all over the metroplex looking for my perfect cat. When I got home he was not too happy with me, but by the next day he loved her just as much as I did.

Name: Abigail--AKA--Abby
Breed: American Shorthair
Age: 10
April of 1994 I found Abby with 3 of her other littermates in the gas chamber. When I noticed that two of the other kittens had already passed, I turned off the gas and took her out. She was 4 weeks old and completely white. She had so much dirt and debris on all of her paws it looked like dried cement blocks. I took her home and cleaned her feet off. I was worried how my husband would react to me bring an animal home, but he loved her at first sight. Abby now considers Michael her owner. She loves to sit in her dad’s office chair. Her favorite thing is Catnip. She is a very vocal little lady that has no problem telling you like it is.
